“So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of His call. May He give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with Him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.”2 Thessalonians 1:11–12

When Prayer Meets Purpose

There are some scriptures that stop you in your tracks — and this is one of them.

I find deep encouragement in how the Apostle Paul prays here. His words don’t just show us what to pray for; they reveal how he saw the Christian life — as a partnership between divine grace and human obedience.

At first glance, Paul’s prayer seems simple. But when you sit with it, you realize how profound it truly is. He’s praying for two powerful things that remain just as relevant to us today.

1. “Asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of His call.”

I want to live a life worthy of His call — one that reflects His nature, represents Him well, and fulfills the purpose He’s placed in my hands.

But here’s the heart of Paul’s prayer:

“God, enable me to do it.”

That is grace — divine enabling. It reminds me that I can’t live out my calling through will power alone. Without His empowering presence, I simply can’t live a life that reflects His call.

It’s not about trying harder — it’s about depending deeper.

2. “May He give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do.”

Paul doesn’t just pray for ability — he prays for power. The power to do what faith prompts us to do.

So let me ask:👉 What is your faith prompting you to do right now?

For us, we’re walking through a season of faith that’s both exciting and stretching — preparing to move our family to the USA. It’s a huge step, one that requires trust, obedience, and courage.

This week, I’ve been fasting, praying, and consecrating myself before the Lord for this new chapter. My simple prayer has been:

“Lord, give us the power to accomplish what our faith is calling us to do.”

Maybe God’s nudging your heart toward something new — a bold step of obedience, a new dream, a deeper surrender. Are you partnering with that prompting in prayer?

The Beautiful Outcome

Paul ends this passage with an incredible promise:

“Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live.”

When we live empowered by grace and faith, Jesus gets all the glory. That’s the heartbeat of it all — that our lives would reflect His name and honor Him through every act of obedience.

But then comes the breathtaking part:

“And you will be honored along with Him.”

Jesus does the heavy lifting, yet God still chooses to honor us. Grace upon grace.

My Prayer for This Season

As I reflect on this passage, I find myself praying it daily. We’re in a season that demands full dependence — taking one step at a time, hand in hand with God, as we prepare to move again.

And in it all, my prayer remains simple and steady:

“God, enable me to live a life worthy of my calling.”

How about you? What is your faith prompting you to do?And are you asking God to enable you — by His grace — to live it out?

Remember:

Prayer empowers. Faith moves. Grace enables. And Jesus gets the glory.
